What it is

What is Wheel Balancing?

Wheel balancing corrects tiny weight variations in a wheel-and-tyre assembly using precisely placed counterweights. Even a small imbalance — often just a few grams — is enough to cause a vibration that grows more noticeable the faster you drive.

We balance each wheel individually on a computerised spin balancer that identifies exactly where and how much weight is needed.

Why it matters

Why this matters for your car

An unbalanced wheel doesn't just feel uncomfortable — it hammers against suspension components, wheel bearings, and steering parts with every rotation, accelerating wear on parts that are far more expensive to replace than a balancing job.

Balancing is also frequently confused with alignment, but they solve different problems: balancing addresses vibration, alignment addresses steering and wear direction. Often both are needed together.

The real cost of waiting

What happens if you delay this?

This isn't scare-mongering — it's what we see time and again when this exact issue is left unaddressed.

Steering wheel vibration

Imbalance typically shows up as a shake through the steering wheel that intensifies at highway speed.

Accelerated suspension wear

Constant micro-vibration fatigues suspension bushes, shocks, and wheel bearings over time.

Uneven tyre wear

An imbalanced tyre bounces slightly rather than maintaining constant contact, wearing unevenly as a result.

Know the signs

Signs you need this now

If any of these sound familiar, it's worth booking an inspection before the issue progresses.

Vibration through the steering wheel, seat, or floor at speed

Vibration that appears or worsens after fitting new tyres

You've recently hit a pothole or had a tyre repaired

Uneven or 'cupped' wear pattern on a tyre

How we work

Our process

Every job follows the same disciplined sequence — diagnose first, explain clearly, then fix it right.

01

Wheel removal & inspection

Each wheel is removed and checked for damage before balancing.

02

Computerised spin balance

The wheel is spun on a precision balancer to detect weight variance.

03

Weight placement

Correctly sized weights are applied at the exact point needed to balance the assembly.

04

Verification spin

We re-spin the wheel to confirm it's within tolerance before refitting.
