What it is

What is Radiator & Cooling System Repairs?

This service covers the radiator, hoses, thermostat, and cooling system as a whole — the network responsible for removing heat from your engine and keeping it within its safe operating range. A cooling system is a sealed, pressurised circuit, and even a small leak or blockage can compromise its ability to manage engine temperature.

We diagnose cooling faults with a pressure test of the full system, which reveals leaks that aren't visible during a simple visual inspection, followed by a physical check of hoses, the radiator, and the thermostat.

Why it matters

Why this matters for your car

Engines are engineered to run within a narrow, specific temperature range. Even brief overheating, just a few minutes, can warp a cylinder head, blow a head gasket, or cause other serious internal damage that costs many times more to repair than the cooling system fault that caused it.

Because coolant loss is often gradual, many drivers don't notice a developing leak until the temperature gauge is already climbing, which is why we check coolant condition and level at every service.

The real cost of waiting

What happens if you ignore this?

This isn't scare-mongering — it's what we see time and again when this exact issue is left unaddressed.

Engine overheating

A failing cooling system can quickly allow engine temperature to exceed safe limits.

Head gasket failure

Overheating is one of the most common causes of a blown head gasket, a significantly more expensive repair.

Warped cylinder head

Severe or repeated overheating can warp the cylinder head, sometimes requiring engine disassembly to repair.

Complete engine failure

In the most extreme cases, sustained overheating can seize the engine entirely.

Know the signs

Signs you need this now

If any of these sound familiar, it's worth booking an inspection before the issue progresses.

Temperature gauge reading higher than normal, or in the red zone

Coolant level dropping between services with no obvious cause

Steam or an unusual smell from under the bonnet

A sweet smell inside or outside the vehicle, a sign of a coolant leak

How we work

Our process

Every job follows the same disciplined sequence — diagnose first, explain clearly, then fix it right.

01

Cooling system pressure test

The system is pressure tested to reveal leaks not visible during a standard inspection.

02

Component inspection

Radiator, hoses, thermostat, and water pump are inspected for wear, corrosion, or damage.

03

Repair or replacement

Faulty components are repaired or replaced, and the system is refilled with the correct coolant specification.

04

System bleed & verification

The system is bled of air pockets and tested under running conditions to confirm stable temperature.
