What is Brake Pad & Disc Replacement?
This service replaces worn brake pads and, where necessary, the discs (rotors) they clamp against. Pads are a wear item by design, engineered to sacrifice themselves to protect the more expensive disc — but once they wear past their minimum thickness, they stop protecting the disc and start damaging it.
We inspect pad thickness, disc condition, and caliper function together, since a sticking caliper or worn disc can cause a brand-new set of pads to wear unevenly within weeks.
Why this matters for your car
Your brakes are the single most safety-critical system on your vehicle. Every other repair affects comfort, cost, or convenience; worn brakes affect your ability to stop the car at all in an emergency. There is no acceptable margin for delay here.
Catching pad wear before it reaches the metal backing plate also protects your discs from being scored, turning a routine pad replacement into a more expensive disc replacement too.
What happens if you ignore this?
This isn't scare-mongering — it's what we see time and again when this exact issue is left unaddressed.
Extended stopping distances
Worn pads reduce the friction available to slow the car, directly increasing the distance needed to stop.
Disc damage
Pads worn to the metal backing plate grind directly against the disc, requiring disc replacement as well.
Caliper and hardware wear
Ignoring pad wear puts extra strain on calipers and can lead to uneven or seized components.
Total brake failure risk
In extreme neglect, worn brakes can fail to stop the vehicle safely at all.
Signs you need this now
If any of these sound familiar, it's worth booking an inspection before the issue progresses.
A high-pitched squeal when braking (often a built-in wear indicator)
Grinding or metallic noise under braking
Longer stopping distances or a 'soft' brake pedal
Vehicle pulling to one side when braking
Our process
Every job follows the same disciplined sequence — diagnose first, explain clearly, then fix it right.
Pad & disc measurement
Remaining pad and disc thickness is measured against manufacturer minimums.
Caliper inspection
Calipers are checked for smooth operation, leaks, and even pad contact.
Pad and/or disc replacement
Worn components are replaced with quality parts matched to your vehicle.
Bedding-in & road test
New pads are bedded in and the vehicle is road tested to confirm even, confident braking.
